The Engagement Group enables members of the community to discuss matters concerning policing in Bexley with their local police.  It provides a way in which the local police can consult with the local community about policing strategy and planning for Bexley.  For example priorities set in Bexley Police Divisional Plan, which is drawn up every year, are considered by the Engagement Group.  Members of the Engagement Group are able to discuss proposals and issues with the organisations they represent and bring their views back to the Group meetings.

The Engagement Group questions the police about their plans for tackling issues of local concern and promotes discussion between the community and the police.  Meetings of the Engagement Group provide an opportunity for the police to gain a better understanding of the community which they serve and enable the community to understand the problems facing the police and the limits of what the police can do in response to local problems.
